Summer Fun (at Dennis the Menace Park)

June 2016
Early in our summer vacation one afternoon, we decided to take the kids out to enjoy our favorite local park.  The kids played and Matt and I took turns tracking them each down (it's a big park and I'm forever worried one of them is lost) and taking photos.

It's always essential to start with a photo by the entry sign.
I like to see how much they have grown each time they stand here.

After an hour or so of running around and everybody was complaining that they were hungry so a trip to the mall for cupcakes was in order.

Summer Dance Showcase (Recital) 2016

June 2016

The first weekend after school got out rapidly turned into a blur of tooile and sequins and makeup and hair spray as the girls had their annual dance recital.

The shows this year were on Sunday and Monday evenings (as that was when the theater was available) and A.J. had all her dances on Sunday with Lucy's one dance being on Monday.

Here's A.J. with my suitcase full of costumes outside the theater.

Backstage fun

More backstage fun.

With her ballet teacher, Ms. Kelly

A whole lot of ballet 1 girls
My friend in the audience snapped these two photos for me.  I actually worked backstage for both shows to help the girls.  Matt took the other kids to watch in the audience.

Here's AJ during her tumbling dance.  I took a picture of the monitor screen back stage.

After the show with Ms. Ashley
The next day it was Lucy's turn.   I couldn't get over her cute little hair in a bun.

I'm pretty sure she was one of the youngest performers in the show since she wasn't even 2 yet.

Giving me a lipstick kiss just like AJ was maybe her favorite part.

So excited!

Lot's of little creative ballet babies.

Here she is right after she danced.  She was so proud of herself.
A couple pictures of the monitor when she was on stage.  Lucy is the farthest to the right.

Waiting backstage to be dismissed, watching the show on the monitors.

She got her very first teddy recital present, a teddy bear with the studio name on it!  (AJ got one two but for some reason I don't have a picture of that.

Big enough to perform on stage, but not to give up that pacy yet.....

Peter's 1st (Naturally) Lost Tooth

June 2016

Somewhere during that last week of first grade, honestly I can't remember when....

Peter finally lost his first tooth (naturally.)

If you remember, he knocked his first tooth out with a kazoo when he was about 3 1/2.  So this one was exciting because there wasn't a blunt force trauma involved.

(It would just figure he managed to have another milestone when his Dad was away.  Ha.)

End of Pre-K and 1st Grade!!

June 2016

And then suddenly it was June.

Not sure how that happened actually.

Pre-K ended a few days before first grade with a picnic on Tuesday at lunch.

Wednesday the PreK kids were special guests during Kindergarten graduation.

And then tht was it.  A.J. was done with PreK and was officially a Kindergartener.

Peter had an extra half day on Thursday.  At noon when they released he was already a second grader.  Shocking.

One of his classmates had a big party to kick off he start of summer.  Here's Peter with the pinata.

Stand back everyone!!
